Creation Report Of The Documentary University Place Apartments

Columbia the third biggest city in Missouri state of U.S.A., has one hundred thousand pupulation. Chinese in Columbia call it Co Village by jokingly. It is a city mainly to University of Missouri(MU for short). There is a building in the campus of MU named University Place Apartments(UP for short), with nearly 60 years history and more than 200 rooms. It is many short term visiting scholars’ temporary dwelling place. The main target of this creation of documentary is to analysis the true life of Chinese visiting scholar in Columbia. By focus on the building UP and describing some visiting scholars in different field, to tell audiences that in Co Village in the middle of U.S.A., Chinese visiting scholars’ emotion and soul, is nowhere to place and go hurrying through like this.This creation tries to use covert narration for the story of the documentary, but not so successful. This become the most valuable experience of this creation. That is, the fom of the documentary should be suited to the subject and shooting conditions, but not decided by subjective will. Usually, voiceover or presenter’s word is still an important narrative skill. When the planning is not so good, meeting some unconquerable difficulty or the subject dosen’t suit covert narration, this ordinary narration is needed.
