| In the view of Emergent literacy,as for the child, literacy is a progress on their own initiative and participation in construction,Children actually started learning from environment at the moment of their birth.Character is the only continuation down ideogram of the development in the world, with a strong graphical features,In the short, the characters also can be think as a kind of two-dimensional space graphics. Then if the children learn Chinese characters emergent literacy relevant about spatial cognitive ability; what’s their relationship; and what development law between each other. This study designed to study 3-6 years old children in rural areas about the relationship between read and write Chinese characters and spatial cognitive development.Subjects were selected two kindergartens in rural outskirts of the town from Anhui Feixi. The subjects in previous emergent literacy related research almost were selected from cities. Emergent literacy relative research in domestic rural preschool education should be pay more attention. The first part of the emergent literacy test is lead by Professor Tian Shenzi within the cooperation Japan and China working together, primarily from reading and copying text word cards two sides to examine children emergent literacy. The second part of the spatial cognitive ability test is through the children hands-on operation, according the theory of Canadian educator John Del Grande, division spatial cognition into different side. In Yonghai Lin(2005) study on the development of children aged from three to six years old in spatial cognitive ability. From seven areas such as Space position sensing, Eye-motion coordination, Perceptual constancy ability, Perception of spatial relationship, Knowledge and ability background graphics, Visual discrimination and memory to investigated spatial cognitive ability in early childhood development. Because of the measure literacy quiz copy "-", "+", "○", "too", "flower" has no different structures of Chinese characters, so the third part of the structure of Chinese characters written test is need, and according to Chinese Character structure and frequency use of Chinese characters to find 42 Chinese with different structures to arranged copy by three different class, to analyze the relationship between the different structure of Chinese character writing copy features and spatial cognition in rural preschool children. This study examined the 3-6-year-old rural preschool children emergent literacy characteristics;through works analysis and descriptive statistics method study early childhood literacy, different Chinese structure characters exhibit what characteristics of spatial cognition, Research indicates:(1)Different ages in rural preschool, between emergent literacy and seven spatial cognitive tasks all have significant differences; Junior group either write or spatial cognition mostly at a low level of development, copy writing almost stay at scribbled stage,eye-motion coordination task completion is almost zero; Middle group have some development but the level is still low, often copying wrong characters, improper mating stroke and so on,the error rate of the complete space missions is very high; Senior group on literacy and spatial cognition have rapid development, literacy and spatial cognition are showing more standardized state.(2)In emergent literacy tests the young children show a significant correlation between reading and writing. With a high reading scores in text of at the same time infant copying performance is higher.(3) Seven spatial cognitive ability in each of the spatial cognitive ability are both have a strong correlation with read and write in emergent literacy.(4) Through work analysis, copy writing by children also have a significant age difference. Junior group almost copying Chinese by points or lines, no graphemic and no structure, or directly refuse to copy draw by Chinese card, but a few children can copy a few single characters; Middle group most willing and carefully copying, Copy single characters and the vertical structure of the word is good, the whole Chinese is mostly instead of a circle or square; Senior group can better copy all the characters, but in the part of space allocated do not very well..(5) In this study,The uniqueness of the Chinese to study rural preschool emergent literacy associated with spatial cognition,From the perspective of spatial cognition to further confirm the importance of early childhood literacy to guide development and according the field research is given literacy recommendation by practical compliance with the law of development of early childhood cognitive. |
