This is a translation report of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing from chapter 1 to chapter 5.In this children’s book, the writer Judy Blume tells various amusing stories around Peter, who is the protagonist of the book.On the basis of translation practice, the report mainly talks about the translation of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing on four levels. On lexical level, in order to increase the amusement of reading, reduplicated words and onomatopoeic words are widely used. On syntactic level, the translator uses simple and short sentences to make translation understandable. On textual level,the translator reorganizes sentences to adapt to Chinese discourse structure. On rhetorical level,quite a large amount of rhetorical devices are applied, which aims to reproduce the effect of rhetoric and aesthetic values.The report is divided into five parts. The first part is an introduction of the report. The second part is a brief description of the translation task. This part includes the text source and features of the source text. The next part is translation process, including preparation stage,translation stage and proofreading stage. The fourth part is case analysis from the aspect of lexicon, syntax, text and rhetoric. The last part includes a summary and experience that the translator gained in the process of translation.
