This concert is inspired by my personal experience in the rehearsal of the Phiharmonic Chorus of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications and in the 2014 World Choir Games in Latvia. I also learned from a course taught by a professor from the Department of Music, namely, The Appreciation of Opera and Music"(the chorus part). The purpose of this study is to teach college students to identify their emotions and express them through choiring. The overflowing of emotions through choiring: first to express emotions that best suit the singers’ age; second to think about how to convey college students’ emotions; third to consider the differences in geography and culture between nations; forth to take vocal features of different languages into account. To consider all these factors and help youngsters express genuine feelings. After discussing and practicing, I decided on 22 songs that are representative of their kinds and are of artistic value under the guidance of my personal tutor. Considering the purpose of improve students’ choiring ability, I asked them to exchange ideas about singing. I believe this is educationally significant.Lessons learned from the preparation for the concet: Decisions on songs to be performed on the stage must be based on lots of discussions and practice. And performing style and emotion expressing are based on the understanding of the songs. Language is decisive in emotion expressing. To arrange choiring members and rehearsals according to the language of the song. Primary elements to the concert is that emotion expressing is based on the language and content. Guidance for children choir is important too. The original features of the concert are most songs to be performed are beautiful and fall into a strong rhythm. What’s more, songs are emotion-oriented and performed in their original languages. The team spirit consists of inclusiveness, understandings and mutual encouragement. Songs are performed by mixed voice and child’s voice.
