The present text is a report on a Chinese-English translation practice. The source text is selected from a book named 500 Attractions in Shanxi. The book is a tourism text, and the translator chooses the second chapter as the source text of the project. The chapter introduces the location, history, and customs of the 50 attractions in Datong City. The basic function of tourism text is to publicize and to attract tourists. It is translator’s pursuit to achieve attraction effect in the English version. However, this turns to be an outstanding difficulty in the process of translating due to linguistic differences between Chinese and English. Based on faithfulness, the translator tentatively uses such translation skills as literal translation with notes, amplification translation and omission translation with Translator Subjectivity as the guiding theory.Through the practice, the translator learns more about tourism translation. Due to the publicizing feature of tourism text, the translator needs to achieve not only faithfulness but also vividness of the version. Based on the above statements, the translator composes this report to make a summary of the difficulties, methods, and reflections in the practice so as to provide some references for translation work and studies in the future.
