As one of the most excellent writers in the world, Alice munro foucuses on the short novel creation, and is regarded as short novel master. Munro has been awarded Governer General prize,Giller prize, Booker prize and etc. In 2013, she became nobel prize winner.The studies on Munro are mainly involved with narrative technology, theme analysis, explorations on female lives and text analysis. These studies help the author of the paper with understanding and studing Munro’s works.This paper named “Studies on the narrative art of ‘the Love of a Good Woman’by Alice Munro ”covers narrative time, narrative space, and narrative perspective, due to limited thesis space with narratology spaning too many aspects.As an important part of narratology, narrative time plays a key role in Munro’s works. This paper has shown that Munro attached great importance to narrative time technique. Her time frame “ "Past and present" convey the theme of her stories and the characters’ situation. In duration of narrative time, Munro’s stories shape its own unique narrative rhythm and strengthen the theme of the novel through ellipsis, acceleration, deceleration and stop. In terms of narrative frequency, Munro shows the plight of the characters and emphasizes the key inforamtion through repetitive narration and narration of similar events.Munro’s narrative features are presented in the form of story space during her employment of narrative space. When the narrator describes natural scenery, the metaphor relationship between story space and story plots will occurs. The changes of the social space mirrors those of female identity. The psychological space is used to observe directly characters’ inner world.During her story creation, Munro deliberates the use of various narrative perspectives. Such narrative perspectives have been employed in her story collection “The Love of A Good Woman”as first person retrospective perspective, first person experimental perspective, third person characters’ perspective, third person narrator’s perspective. Each of them has a unique effect and function during the narrative process of stories. By using two incompatible narrative perspectives of conventional narration in the same story, Alice Munro strengthen the theme of the story.With its analysis and argument, this paper, to a certain extent, reveals Munro’s reasonable and successful use of narrative time, narrative space, and narrative perspective.
