On The Recreation, Custom And Literature Of The Literati In Han And Wei Dynasties

During the Han and Wei dynasties, the political turmoil was decayed and people were living in dire poverty due to frequent wars and constant disaster. Coupled with the shake of the statue of the Confucian as the orthodoxy, the ideology being decline, the personality consciousness of the literati begun awakening.Now, a trend of diversification appeared to the literati in many aspects of the life belief, values, moral standards, way of life, etc. The literati desired to seek the spiritual comfort and sustenance from various forms of entertainment activities.It is because of the literati’s favor and paying attention to recreation custom that the status of entertainment was rising to their necessary in the daily life, instead of the insignificant skill to administer a country. With the reversal of the values of literati, the custom of entertainment began into their field of vision, a large number of the entertainment literature arised with the recreation activities as the theme of literature creation at the historic moment.At the same time, the entertainment was becoming more and more popular during the Han and Wei Dynasty, which produced a certain degree of influence on the literati entertainment customs.The selected era in this paper is from the first year of Jianning at the period of Han Lingdi to the end of Jingchu at the period of Wei Mingdi. The interaction is explored between the amusement customs and literature creation of the literati of Han and Wei Dynasty through the reorganization, the textual distiction and the analysis of the literati entertainment activities and literary creation during the Han and Wei dynasties.The second chapter is about the entertainment customs of the literati between the Han and Wei dynasty and its evolution.Based on the characteristics and the nature of scholars entertainment activities between the Han and Wei dynasty, the entertainment customs of the literati at the time are divided into four categories, namely, the puzzle game, wrestling sports class, miscellaneous acrobatics class and other classes.And during this period the evolution of literati recreation custom is divided into two stages to carry on the elaboration. Finally from the political, social and intellectual’s point of view, the reason of custom evolution in Han and Wei Dynasty scholars entertainment is analyzed.The third chapter It is mainly discussed how the literati ethos between Han an Wei Dynasty influenced the literature.First, entertainment literary works were detailed in Han and Wei dynasties list; then from the two aspects, that is, the content of the literature and characteristics of being literary and artistic, the influence of literati recreation custom on the literature is explored.The fourth chapter is on the literature’s influence on literati recreation custom between the Han and Wei dynasty.This chapter mainly discusses three questions. The first one is about the literature influence on reproduction of literati recreation custom. The second one is about the literature influence on the propagation of literati recreation custom. The third one is about the new features of literati recreation custom under the influence of the literature.The literati entertainment custom presents characteristics of literature, specialization, and being lyric with the way of being more subtle and artistic.
