| China is a unified multilingual country. To guarantee education equality and quality is crucial for unity and development of our ethnic groups. As a developed country with the same multilingual situation, America has formed a more matured education system, which has constantly being a focus of our research. This thesis mainly aims at the English Language Development Standards of California’s English learners, which gives us much experience to develop and improve ethnic education in our country. It will make discussion from three parts as follows:The first part, including Introduction and chapter 1, presents the background of the research. Introduction illustrates the research meaning, status and methods; chapter 1 analyses the research backgrounds from the aspect of national and regional level.The second part, from chapter 2 to 3, is the main section. Chapter 2 represents the theoretical foundation of the CA ELD, these are sociolinguistics, sociocultural and sociocognitive theories; chapter 3 introduces structure and content of the CA ELD.The third part is the analysis section, including the efficiency analysis in chapter 4 and the revelation in chapter 5. Among them, chapter 4 analyses the correspondence between the CA ELD and the Common Core State Standards; chapter 5 focuses on the revelation that it brings to our ethnic Chinese education.Finally, a brief conclusion is drawn in the last part of the thesis. Research shows that the contents and its implementation plan are worth learning even if it is still in the early stage of implementation. |
