The Exploring And Analyzing Of Schnittke’s Polystylism And His Symphony No.1

This paper is divided into two parts. The first and sorts out Polystylism from the three aspects about Schnittke how to create, develop Polystylism and propose the principles of Polystylism. The second analyzes the “Symphony No.1” which is the early stage work of Schnittke. As an example, the part goes through the character about pitch, rhythm, orchestral and so on. We can learn the technical style and character of Schnittke’s Polystylism for his early stage works.There are two principles about Polystylism used in the work. The principles of direct and reference is very obvious hereciting the five composer representative masterpieces; Another principle is the implication of religious music, for example, Gregorian Dies Irae melody added dodecaphonism or with ornamentation.The work is the foundation for the creation of the mature period of the Polystylism.
