Documentary 《The Legend Of Autumn Grass》

Audio-visual language has no national boundaries. Documentary can spread knowledge, record the history and investigate the present. A good documentary must be the perfect combination of authenticity and artistry. As a cultural and historical documentary which I complete independently, "The Legend of a Book" tells the story of a book named "Autumn Grass"-one of the ancient books collection in the library of Nanjing University.By using the documentary approach, I combine the images and commentary. By setting the narrative strategy of suspension and revealing secret, this documentary truly record the legengdary saga about the birth of Bian Zhilin’s first book of poems, "Autumn Grass" and its rebirth after the catastrophe. I hope that the true record of "Autumn Grass" can raise concerns about the dilemma of the restoration of old painting and calligraphy as well as the ancient books of Nanjing University library.As a student of journalism and communication,using the camera to record the word is my habit and also my interst. Tt’s a big challenge for me to make a documentary about the ancient books of the library of Nanjing University.Because it’s all by myself to do such one thing,so there are some restrictions and insufficiency about this documentary. As long as it’s a good story,that means a lot.
