By the means of statistics, comparison and interviews, the thesis studies the characteristics of Urad Mongolian names and its relevancies with the natural and social environment through the example of Urad Mongolian names. There are six parts in the thesis:introduction, chapter one, chapter two, chapter three, conclusion and bibliography.In the introduction, it introduces the reason of selection of the topic, research status, the source of the materials, research methods and innovations, and the general information about Urad Mongolian and Urad Middle Banner.The first chapter is a brief introduction to the naming customs and the characteristics of Urad Mongolian. In the part of naming culture, it mainly introduces the customs of naming the child and seeking names. In the part of the characteristics of naming, it discusses the etymology, structure, grammar, meaning, gender and frequency features and the current situation of the transliteration of Chinese characters.The chapter two is about introducing Urad Mongolian name’s relevance with the natural and social environment. It analysis the relevancies between naming and the natural environment through the examples of naming people after animals, plants, stars, landscape, seasons and so on. With color symbols, Numbers, symbols, religion, social psychology, urban and rural people named characteristics analysis of the relationship between the names and social environment.In chapter three, it divides Urad Mongolian names to political and historic stages as 1920-1949,1950-1965,1966-1978,1979-1999, 2000-2014 and discusses their changes.In the conclusion, it summarizes the study and points out the contents that are not involved and expected to be studied in the future.
