This is a translation practical report. The source text of translation is selected from the talk manuscript on the creation of industrial art by Mr.Wang Zhaowen, an aesthetician, theorist of art and literature as well as sculptor at the Beijing Arts and Crafts Research Institute. Simple as the language is, it is replete with strong theoretical characteristics, academic personality atmosphere and distinct characteristics of the times in the early years of the new nation. As an important article on industrial arts, the translation verse serves to be a channel for target readers to understand the industrial arts of China in this special period. Therefore, a good translation may play an indispensable role in spreading it, which is the reason for choosing it as the research object. In this report, the translation process, adopted translation methods as well as the introspection are mainly presented. Firstly, it describes the background of translation project and source texts, and then briefly charts translation process, including the understanding of source text, practice stage as well as the checking after work. The next part is the focus of this report: the case analysis from the perspective of vocabulary and sentence; the vocabulary mainly targets at culture-bounded terms, which generally employ literal translation and literal translation(transliteration)+annotation; while in terms of sentence, since the sourcetext is stamped with oxymoron sentences, figurative sentences and verses, how to better select a proper strategy in reproducing these features becomes a great challenge for translator and also the key point of this report. Finally, the experience and problems about translation, as well as some suggestions for future translation are concluded, providing some references for further study.
