Zhu Baosan is the famous industrial giant in the Early Republic Of China. He is not only the important representative of Ningbo confraternity, but also a famous philanthropist. ZhuBaosan left for Shanghai to learn skills when he was young. Years of studying, Zhu Baosan’s economic strength had grew. What’s more, he began to go into political and economic places frequently, following the growing of social status and influence. Because of frequent natural disasters, Ningbo confraternity tradition to do good and his experiences, Zhu Baosan took the initiative to shoulder social responsibility and participated in philanthropy.ZhuBaosan’s charitable activities mainly concentrate in later life, especially after 1919.His charitable activities relate to a lot, including disaster relief, medical assistance, special group rescue and social welfare. On disaster relief, ZhuBaosan participated in disaster relief many a time, such as northern drought in 1920,southern floods in 1921.On medical assistance, ZhuBaosan was involved in the preparation of Ningbo Hospital, the epidemic hospital of Shanghai, Guangyi TCM hospital, rescuing a large number of illness of poor.At the same time, ZhuBaosan was committed to rescue abducted women and children many years. What’s more, Zhu Baosan also participated in social welfare activities actively.ZhuBaosan’s charitable activity has the characteristics of emphasizing "blasted into effect", good in combination with business. At the same time, his charitable activities has the diversity of agencies, the breadth of relief scope and the flexibility of fund raising, etc.In the long process of doing good, ZhuBaosan rescued a large number of poor and refugees, alleviating the social contradictions and stabling social order to some extent. However, because ZhuBaosan was in the Late Qing and Early Republic of China of rapid social changing, his charitable activities inevitably involved the limitations of the times. But ZhuBaosan persisted in charity to death, which set up us a good example of a businessman doing good.
