The development and change of "People’s Theatre", the national theatre magazine and the organ publishing of Chinese Dramatists Association, shows and affects the direction of the drama creation, drama criticism and theory of drama.At the same time, as a literary periodical in the special age. "People’s Theatre" not only spread literature, but also promote the party’s policy of literature and art, discuss the major theoretical issues, and even direct service to politics. This thesis takes the "People’s Theatre "(1976-1978) as the research object, and analysis the inheritance and change of its content, theme, external form and columns in this time domain. The purpose is to highlight the historical characteristics, the significance and the value of "People’s Theatre" during the reign of Hua Guofeng, and to point out the difference between the drama in the new period. "People’s Theatre"(1976-1978), as a literary periodical between the "Cultural Revolution" literature and literature in the new period, presents the characteristics of the transition on the whole, that is, it shows both the historical limitations, and reduction of literary reformed.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part revealed and analyzed the background of "People’s Theatre" ceasing publication and resuming publication.Through vertically carding the history change of "People’s Theatre", we can clear the context. Through the background analysis of stopping publication and resuming publication, we can know that political ideology has a great influence on literature and art publications in the special age. The second part regarded The Cultural Revolution as a dividing line, to sum up the main contents and themes of "People’s Theatre" before and after the Cultural Revolution, explore the evolution process of "People’s Theatre", and show the characteristics of the transition period. Before the end of the "Cultural Revolution", the main content and subject matter of the publication are: the expression of class struggle, especially the struggle of the partyline, shaping the typical proletarian hero and singing the praises of socialist new things. After the end of the "Cultural Revolution", publications mainly content and subject matter occurred significant changes: to expose and criticize the "Gang of four", to shape the image of the proletarian revolutionist, to reflect the three revolution reality struggle and restore staged excellent traditional repertoire and to restore dramatic artist reputation. The third part, through the comparison of the specific activities and columns, showed the differences and changes of "People’s Theatre" before and after the cultural revolution. By comparison, it is found that,after the end of the "Cultural Revolution", it is still persisted the Mao’s revolutionary line in literature and art, but began to desalination tools in Mao Zedong’s thought of literature and art on the side, and strengthen the artistic law of the side. It is because of these differences, the "Cultural Revolution" bring order out of chaos. The fourth part analyzed the historical value, the significance and the limitation of "People’s Theatre". "People’s Theatre "(1976-1978), its historical value and significance is that through this period we can inspect the drama movement, the trend of thought, the change and the transition of the drama creation in this special period, so as to analyze an important aspect of the literary and artistic history in Hua Guofeng’s reign.
