With the deep development of the reform and opening-up policy in China and constant acceleration of economic globalization process, the competition and conflict between English having practical benefits and keeping in dominant position and Chinese containing profound national sentiments, embodying unique aesthetic taste, and representing bright cultural features have already become an inevitable topic in modern Chinese study and it will be continued. This doesn’t mean the collision and fusion between a language and the other language. What’s more, it refers to the collision and fusion between a culture and the other culture, a thinking mode and the other thinking mode. Particularly, Chinese loan words from English in Chinese can embody the process greatly.Led by language contact and language borrowing, the paper selects new Chinese loan words from English presented in Global Times from 2010 to 2014 as linguistic data for surveying and inspects service conditions and routes of transmission of active Chinese loan words from English in current modern Chinese by conducting quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis of new Chinese loan words from English. Language and society are co-variant. By analyzing current Chinese loan words from English profoundly, it is thus clear that we can inspect current social status, explore secret of social life deeply, and realize the times profoundly, so as to contribute to realizing and treating with the linguistic cultural phenomenon of Chinese loan words from English more objectively and comprehensively. When writing the paper, the author utilizes a scientific research method combining statistics with analysis to study Chinese loan words from English deeply, comprehensively and synthetically from multiple angles and levels and the author also finishes the paper by combining living examples with achievements studied by predecessors.The paper can be divided into 8 chapters with the following structure:Chapter one introduces research purposes, significance, research methods, linguistic data collect and framework structure briefly. Chapter two firstly elaborates language contact and language borrowing and then conducts relatively detailed literature review on research history and status of Chinese loan words from English. Chapter three introduces definition, classification and localization of related loan words, two climaxes of developing Chinese loan words from English, and typical characteristics of vocabularies. Chapter four emphasizes on surveying new Chinese loan words from English in Global Times in recent 5 years, including classification, word class distribution and reasons of Chinese loan words from English, reasons for borrowing new Chinese loan words from English and social problems embodied by these words. Chapter five is the empirical investigation of new Chinese loan words from English in social-linguistics.
