TCM poetry is a precious cultural heritage, but also highly summarized the ancient physicians academic thought and clinical experience. After thousands of years handed down, forming rich and unique categories. They are loved by the majority of Chinese medicine scholars because of the concise, easy to remember and easy recite characteristics.TCM poems are too many and mixed, and scattered in various medical books, content also overlapping and repetition. Its occurrence and development process is quite complex and is not easy to learn and use. In the past, there has not been a systematic study on the occurrence, development, content, type and historical value of TCM poetry.This article is to make a comprehensive and systematic study of TCM poetry. On the basis of consulting a large number of traditional Chinese medicine literature, collect TCM poems which scattered in all kinds of TCM literature, one by one to give the record. Analysis of the content, function and characteristics of TCM poetry, looking for the inherent relationship between traditional Chinese medicine and TCM poetry, clearing the occurrence and development of TCM poetry and classifying them. Ultimately achieve the overall grasp of the TCM poetry.The study found that TCM poetry originated from Qin and Han Dynasties, developed in the Tang and Song Dynasties and flourished in the Ming and Qing dynasties.In consulting hundreds of TCM literature, TCM poems are 2563 in total, which including 2334 poems and 229 Fu.
