Interpretation Of The TV Documentary “The Samans Band-Belief Speaks For Itself”

Rock music, as a new-type music, originated from America in 1950 s.In the 1980 s, rock music was introduced into China and has profoundly effected on Chinese popular music,sincethan,Chinese rockers, for example Cui Jian, merged their clinging ideas to the rock music, which made the Chinese rock music different from western rock music. Changchun as the base of Chinese heavy metal rock music and plenty of rock bands and players are active in this city. Samans Band, a typical grassroot rock band, will show us incisively and vividly how the young people persist in their dreams and pursue their music.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first chapter explains the theoretical basis and practical source of the creation from two aspects, which are the combination of learning and creation theory and practice.The second chapter introduces the content, theme and the creative concepts of this documentary. For the content, by introducing the band and the structure of the music created by the band, the thesis explains the recording and playback of the documentary as well as the overall structure. For the subject, this thesis points out the mainly ideological implication of the rock music created by Samans Band from the perspective of youth culture, rock spirit and regional culture in Changchun. Grassroot rock bands of Changchun consider the rock music as their belief and dream, so they have unique culture and spirit.In terms of creation concept,we should follow the principles of the objective record and subjective performance’s dialectical unification,the humanity and entertaining’s dialectical unification,which can improve the artistry of the productions. In third chapter, this thesis introduces the audiovisual technology and art in the documentary and elucidates the audio-visual elements and production process from theview of prophase shoot, post production and overall structure.. The fourth chapter not only elaborates the existing significance of this documentary by exposing its aesthetic,cultural and social value,butalso reflects the directors’ deficiency in creation from such aspects as preliminary practices and post production,which offers instructive references for future works.The theis explains the production process and the value by using the knowledge of mass culture and communication science.It presents the young people’s pursuit of dream and their vitality. This documentary make the audience know the existence of rock players and the culture they can deliver, so as to change the audience’s prejudice against rock music and rock players.
