Research On The Anxiety Theory Of Freud

Anxiety is a core concept to reveal the modern spiritual experience. For modern mental healthy people, the absurb existing state is the source of anxiety; for psychotics, anxiety is also one of the most important and most common symptoms. Anxiety, as a formal concept, was first introduced by Freud. In his opinion, if the riddle of anxiety could be cracked, we would understand the whole of our mental life. In Introductory Lectures on Psycho-Analysis, Freud brought the negligent psychology into the limit of psychoanalytic theory and chose dream interpretation as the main research method for psychoanalysis to find the root of various diseases and the way of treatment. Anxiety is just the key research object of neuropathy monograph. It can be said that Freud’s anxiety theory has formed a new kind of psychological theory by introducing the dynamic physiology into the field of human spirit.With the rapid development of science and technology, extreme expansion of material, people’s existing state becomes intense and fast-paced, all kinds of desires are repressed without catharsis. The spread of anxiety undoubtedly hinders the perfection of human morality and the realization of social civilization. Freud in his book analyzed the origins, types and characteristics of anxiety.In my opinion, only that operating mechanism which makes people turn eyes from the physiological level to the level of the relationship between the human beings and the world, discern the source of resistance and distillation of personality is the purpose of the study of anxiety theory. Therefore, the writer tries to develop the exploring activity with the deductive logic of "root--characteristics--sublimation" of anxiety. It can be said there is still a large space to study Freud’s theory of anxiety through this kind of logic analysis. Under the correct understanding, it helps us to ease our devil character which is repressed. It can not only catharsis psychiatric patients’ repressed emotions in a state of unconsciousness, but also can help people explore the defense mechanism behind the emotions, which is conducive to the perfection of social morality and the realization of human civilization.Based on reading Freud’s psychological analysis works, the writer’s research vision focused on three aspects--the "root", "nature" and "sublimation" of anxiety theory in order to thoroughly understand the essence and the ideological core of subjects. At the same time, writer contemplates the research object with living experience to realize a kind of communication, face the ups and downs of life and sufferings and encounter a great philosopher in the depth of the soul. In addition, there are few writings about case analysis and specific interpretation in Freud’s theory of moral anxiety. Writer hopes to take the "find problems, solve problems, guiding practice " for thinking direction to elucidate the sublimation and transcendence of anxiety through analyzing the cases of objectivity anxiety and nervous anxiety.This thesis is divided into three parts. The first part mainly analyzes the origins from objective anxiety, nervous anxiety and moral anxiety to find out the mechanism of anxiety from the relationship among ID, ego and superego, so as to distinguish different theoretical roots of different anxiety types. In the second part, it explores the essence and development of Freud’s early and late anxiety theory from the three types of anxiety, aiming at distinguishing the basic characteristics of different types of anxiety. This part is the focus of the whole thesis. Through the research, it is not difficult to generalize that the objective anxiety comes from the initial trauma of infants and the fear of castration in childhood; nervous anxiety is throughout the whole story of Freud’s theory of anxiety, nervous anxiety under the perspective of binary mental model and ternary personality structure has its own unique basic characteristics separately; as the driving force of all activities that human have, moral anxiety has the social character, it also embodies the constructive character which is brought out by purification and distillation of original instinct. Based on these three different types of anxiety, the third part will explore the ways to get out of the anxiety, designing to guide people to improve themselves correctly in order to accelerate the process of civilized society. This part is the difficulty and innovation of this thesis: Objective anxiety needs the help of specific defense mechanism in childhood to persuad those who are repressed and like to fantasize; nervous anxiety needs the method that unconscious things can turn into conscious things to help neurotics with an emotional catharsis; moral anxiety needs sufferings and punishments to get rid of the grave sin, and it can maintain the normal order of the society through the totem and taboo.There is no doubt that Freud sketched a panorama of psychoanalysis with a doctor’s perspective and theorist’s sagacity. His theory is undoubtedly a panacea to treat some real illnesses in today’s materialistic and changeable world. Through the picture, people can use a common mind to penetrate the diaphragm caused by space-time, context and custom; seek the eternal spirit of immortality and feel that multidimensional power which defines the physical and spiritual world.
