An Interpreting Practice Report On Broadcasted News Clips Of Our State Leaders’ Speeches

Since Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang formed the new generation of Communist Party of China leaders,they have given a series of speeches, attended many activities and made a lot of achievements. All of these have been broadcasted by China National Radio news. At present, there are still many difficulties in the oral interpreting and translation of all kinds of Chinese political news, which is mainly due to the fact that the features in our news broadcasting are to advocate the policies of our party, and reflect the standpoint of maxim-Leninism, thus producing a vast vocabulary of Chinese characteristics. The problems are particularly serious in the course of oral interpreting, owing to the influence by some factors of speakers, interpreters and target listeners such as their language habits, cultural background, etc. All kinds of problems frequently appear in interpreting the contents of news. Therefore, the writer of this report has selected CNR news on the state leaders as the material of the consecutive interpreting, and tries to analyze and explore the problems encountered in the course of oral interpreting of our state leaders’ speeches, take the concrete and feasible countermeasures, and finally use the operable mode, thus enabling the mode to guide the oral interpreting work of state leaders’ speeches in the future.This paper can be divided into three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion.In the introduction, it is pointed out that the significance of interpreting CNR political news lies in verifying the practicability of this theory, so as to better use this theory for interpreting. Part Two is the main body of this report, including four chapters. Chapter One is task description. First of all, the features of news clips are introduced, and the background knowledge of the CNR news on state leaders is given, and interpretive theory is also introduced here. In Chapter Two the interpreting process is mainly discussed, which consists of the preparation work before interpreting, and the procedures in the interpreting process. Chapter Three is case analysis, including the influence of background knowledge, deverbalization, the influence of notes, and conciseness and avoidance of repetition. Chapter Four is post-interpreting summary, including some problems in the practice process and future improvements. Part Three is conclusion. With the interpretive theory, which was originated from the study of the professional oral interpreting as the guiding theory, this report briefly expounds the interpretive theory,adopts the common basic skills in oral interpreting, and takes the interpreting of CNR news on the CPC leaders as an example, so as to verify the practicality of the countermeasure.
