Horus is a falcon God, he is one of the earliest gods that is worshiped by ancient Egyptian. At the beginning, it is just a regional god, as time goes on, he becomes the god that is worshiped by the whole Egypt, that is the national god. Horus is the god of the sky and the sun god. He also has an intimately relationship with the kingship of ancient Egypt, Horus is the symbol of the kingship of ancient Egypt, and the Pharaoh is the living Horus. The study of Horus has an important significance, we can learn more about ancient Egyptian religion, then analyze the worship of Horus and its influence on ancient Egyptian kingship and society.The main purpose of this article is to introduce the origin, images and functions of Horus, as well as the mythology, festivals and worship centres of Horus. Then discuss the relation between Horus and ancient Egyptian kingship, research the significance of the worship of Horus. This article has three parts:First, analysis the dates, learn the origin, images and functions of Horus.Second, learn the mythology, festivals and worship centres of Horus. Thus we can know the flourish of the worship of Horus.Third, by learning Horus with the national god, Horus with the king’s titles, Horus with kingship and Horus with the ancient Egyptian society, discuss the influence and significance of the worship of Horus.
