As Chinese traditional culture draws more attention in contemporary cultural education and daily life, the twenty-four solar terms, the carrier of Chinese agricultural culture, become common topics of decoration art. Chinese people are good at colors. Their concept of colors is based on the observing method of “extracting images by viewing objects”, and the thinking pattern of “analogizing abstract images.” Chinese people also set up a five-color system in the ground of the philosophy of Yin-Yang and five elements. The twenty-four solar terms and the “five colors” reflect Chinese aesthetic awareness and their concept of universe and nature. It is important to dig out the inner relationship between the twenty-four solar terms and the five-color system from the perspectives of culture science and cognition science. That will provide a new angle to straighten up the connection between Chinese traditional culture and traditional art.
