The simplicity of notes is of great significance in the process of interpretation. Strategies to achieve simplicity are various, however, there is still a lack of systematic theoretical and practical guidance in this process. Note simplification can be used, not only in the process of note recognition, but also to facilitate the creation of note codes, so that the strategies of note simplification can be more varied, creative and comprehensive.Space Mapping Theory studies the mappings among different mental spaces. Based on this theory, a cognitive explanation is given to analyze the note codes in consecutive interpretation. According to the characteristics of the triggers that reactivate memory, notes are classified into two categories: invisible and visible. There are three mappings in Space Mapping Theory, namely, projection mappings, pragmatic function mappings, and schema mappings, which are used to analyze and summarize the principles and strategies involved in note simplification. Note encoding plays a decisive role in note simplicity. Projection mappings can be utilized in encoding from four perspectives: mappings from space to time; mappings from space to relationship; mappings from space to development; mappings from abstract to concrete concept. Pragmatic function mappings can be classified into three categories in note encoding: phonetic mappings; morphological mappings and semantic mappings. Schema mappings including language, content and form schema can interpret the principles of both visible and invisible note triggers.Through note-taking practice, based on the note codes in former studies, some note codes for the major words and phrases in such areas as politics, economy, culture, and society are created to enrich the note code system for better interpretation practice. Lastly, these note codes practices are validated by comparative experiments to improve note simplification in the process of interpretation.
