In the context of globalization and informatization, more and more academic exchanges are carried out in the aspects of politics, economy, culture etc. between China and other countries; domestic academic monographs also attract more and more attention on the international arena. Different from ordinary articles, academic monographs have their unique features: the serious style, the prudent attitude, the careful choice of words, the rigorous arrangement of sentences. Thus the translation of academic works is a professional skill, which requires the translator to have an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of related fields besides adequate ability. This essay takes the English translation of the excerpted part of Introduction to Corpus-based Translation Studies as an example; conducts case analysis on the level of word, sentence, passage and section; and intends to conclude the experience of this translation practice, providing references of the English translation of Chinese academic monographs.
