| The translated text of This report is Translation Today: Trends and Perspectives, written by Gunilla Anderman and Margaret Rogers, professors on translation study with Surrey University, UK. I am responsible for the translation of the third and the forth chapters, totaling about ten thousand words. As an essay collection, the book contains 14 essays on translation study, which discussed the trends of translation based on both theory and practice from various perspectives. The third chapter is “no global communication without translation”, delivered by Peter Newmark, and the forth is “some of Peter Newmark’s translation categories revisited”, by Albrecht Neubert.There are four parts in this report: the first part is a brief introduction to the translation project, including the background information, purpose and significance of the project, and the main idea of the book; the second part is the preparation and translating process; the third part is case study, which is an essential part of the report that, grounded by translation methods and techniques, including the translator’s solution to multilingual-writing, cultural differences and other difficulties; the last part is the conclusion of the translation practice. |
