"Without so much anoramic view, in the small sizes some have steep mountain crest without seeing the top;and straight cliffs without seeing the bottom;some have high mountain near the sky,and gently hill far away;some have people boating under the moon, and one man sitting lonely.so it is the view corner."- ——Cao ZhaoThis quote comes from the earliest cultural relics appraisal of the Ming Dynasty <Monograph of Antiquities>, of which the author is Cao Zhao who is famous antique connoisseur of Ming Dynasty. This sentence is his evaluation of the landscape painting style of Southern Song Dynasty painter Ma Yuan. The reason why the author at the beginning of the article quoted this sentence is that the sentence have two core words in the topic namely "Panorama" and " Corner ". The author thinks it is very accurate and image to summe up this two kinds of composition style with unique and huge impact in these two words which came out in the Five Dynasties and Song Dynasties. And at the same time, because of its short incisive words, also convenient for discussion, so the author is to make the evolution of the "Panoramic" composition to the "Corner" composition as the core content of the research, and a discussion for the center.Throughout the evolution of the ancient Chinese landscape painting in the Five Dynasties to the Song Dynasties, the landscape painting has experienced a process from mature to brilliant, among them "mature" refers to that the landscape painting has been out of this period before the Tang Dynasty when landscape painting is still so naive such as "The people’s bigger than mountains, and water should not be bouted", while the "glory" means in this period the emergence of many Chinese landscape painting artists who occupies an important position in the history(such as Hong Guzi, Guan Tong, Dong Yuan, Ju Ran in the Five Dynasties, and as Li Cheng,Fan Kuan,Guo Xi,Mi Fu,Li Tang,Ma Yuan Xia Gui in the Song Dynasty, etc.), and at the same time, many new painting skill appeared(such as Spreadhemp Cun, Cirruscloud Cun, Raindrop Cun, Point Cun, Ax Cun, etc.). This article trys to study the landscape painting during this period from the angle of "composition", The literary leader of the late Ming Dynasty Wang Shizhen said in his < Zhiyan Art>: "About the landscape painting,Senior Li and Junior LI had maken one change, Jing, Guan, Dong, Ju had maken another one change, Lee, Fan had maken another one change, Liu, Lee, Ma, Xia had maken another one change, Da Chi, Huang He had maken another one change." It can be seen from his words that in landscape paintings of the five changes the Five Dynasties and Song Dynasty has accounted for three change, which means this period as the period of the evolution of the landscape painting is very active. Although Wang Shizhen didn’t say clear of what has changed, but the author thinks that the change of composition is not only obvious from a large number of works and it is very important and valuable(because the composition profoundly affects the appearance and aesthetic orientation of landscape painting). Throughout this period of landscape painting, while many new composition emerged in endlessly at that time, but in summary the composition of "Panorama" and " Corner " was the two main composition mode, and all of them were from the " Panorama " to " Corner " in the evolution of the composition, which also make it clear that the evolution of the composition is the evolution of the aesthetic orientation. This article trys to hand down from the development condition and the classic of the Five Dynasties and Song Dynasties and hopes to be able to systematically and deeply analysis the special artistic characteristics of "Panorama" and " Corner " from special perspective and card the pattern and reason of the evolution of "Panorama" and "Corner",and so to review the evolution which have epoch-making significance.
