"Zhao Shuli’s Orientation" And The Multiple Implication Of Comedy Elements In Zhao Shuli’s Fictions

There are comedy elements in the aspects of Character Creation、situation setting and language use in Zhao Shuli’s fictions.According to the features between new and old age,Zhao Shuli describes different comic characters,including positive comic characters、negative comic characters,and the characters between them.He is good at creating the comic situations around the "Happy Ending",also he uses and changes the form of Shanxi dialect,forming a unique language style.The comedy elements and the literary style in Zhao Shuli’s Fictions,are closely related to the cultural context he is in.The utilitarian view of literature in Zhao Shuli’s fictions,originates from the the spirit of pragmatism in Shanxi regional culture.The actual struggle against the rural feudal ideas with Zhao Shuli,is completely different from Problem Novels’"Just ask their sources,not to cure" in "May Fourth"period.It is noteworthy that,on the one hand,Zhao Shuli is deeply influenced by the feudal ideology and backward thinking of ShanXi regional culture on his personal growth and literary creation,On the other hand he is also deeply influenced by the spirit of "May Fourth",including pursuit the liberation of thought,promote democracy and science,against the feudal and superstitious.Both the new and old ideas intersect on him,we can see that the branding of the new culture existed behind the regional culture.In 1942,"Speech of Forum on Literature and Art in Yan’an"(Hereinafter referred to as "The Speech")fit in easily with Zhao Shuli’ existing literature ideas and literary practice.After recommended by people like Zhou Yang and Guo Moruo,the literary works of Zhao Shuli are widespread in the liberated areas.Not only that,the proposed of "Zhao Shuli’ direction",even make people seem the literary works of Zhao Shuli as the typical practice according to the Mao Zedong1 Literary thought.And directly influences the construction of contemporary literary norms.However,after reading all the works of Zhao Shuli we can see that, they are not a copy of the "The Speech",there has been a subtle friction、 running and collision between them,It is also cause the different evaluations of Zhao Shuli by the contemporary literature in different periods.Zhao Shuli inherited the spirit of the intellectuals in "May Fourth",he seems literature as a role of public enlightenment.In fact,the effect of comedy in Zhao Shuli’ literature,is not the thought on the surface structure that it’s only a happy ending like the coming of new policy in the liberated areas,instead it has a deeper implication.Researchers overlooked the sense of history of Zhao Shuli as an intellectual,ignored that under the surface structure of his works there are deep meanings to enlighten and change the thought of "The descendants of old Chinese"in backward rural.This paper attempts to use research methods:deeply reading of literature、the study of historical materials and comparative study.On the basis of reading the related papers extensively and deeply,the paper takes Zhao Shuli’ novels as the object of research,combined with the historical background and cultural context he is in,further study the comedy elements deeply and systematically in Zhao Shuli’s fictions. At the same time,on the basis of the interpretation,it will find the multiple implications of the comedy elements.After analyzing why ideology would choose Zhao Shuli as a typical of "The Speech" in the liberated areas,objectively discuss the similarities and differences between Zhao Shuli and "Zhao Shuli’ direction",in order to re-identify their surface convergence an internal alienation.Research of this paper is not only beneficial to rich study of the comedy elements in Zhao Shuli’ fictions,but also complete a supplement to further research on contemporary issue of "Agriculture,Rural areas and Farmers" and Zhao Shuli’ fictions,which means that at the macro view of history of Chinese literature in the 20th century,it can highlights the coordinate position and symbolic function of Zhao Shuli in the changing period from the year about 1940 to 1950,and then summarize the significance meaning of Zhao Shuli and Zhao Shuli’ fictions in the history of Chinese literature.
