Dong nationality boasts itself as an ethnic group of singing-can-mold-its-character. Most of their songs are famous Dong Chorus. On the basis of its historical data, Dong minority’s history lasts about five hundred years. Dong Chorus, with its artistic status and deeply-rooted culture, deserves to be honored as one of the three Dong-culture treasures. But if you make a general survey of predecessors’ research on the Dong Chorus, you will find that they have investigated the Chorus from a perspective of purely professional music theory to explain its musical forms, features and value, or melody structure, the way of singing skills, performance and so on. However, they did little research of Dong Chorus on education especially on the childhood education. Therefore, this paper, taking Huang Gang in Li Ping county, Guizhou province as an example, will not only make an objective and systematic description of its content, the form of singing and inheritance manners from the perspective of anthropology by living with Dong community; but also make an objective analysis of the close contact between the Dong Song and Dong’s childhood education and its value by living with them. The conclusions of my research indicate that, the Dong Chorus’ s educational effects to children, instead of making traditional music education confined to a certain fixed education mode and field, make Dong culture closely linked with the development of Dong children’s growth to transmit the wisdom of Dong ethnic historical culture from generation to generation in the main line of listening, singing and spreading relying on festivals, assembly and customs. The kind of education mode and process, unlike the traditional teaching pattern, is a kind of unconscious and situational one by an artistic combination between music dissemination and inheritance and Dong children’s daily life. Dong ethnic people make their children’s education inserted into their local knowledge system of culture and life. The education value of Dong Chorus does not only benefit their children’s mental and physical development, their distinctive music attainment and aesthetic sentiment, and the optimizing of national cultural heritage mode; but also have an important inspiration action to increase new education resources, to develop diversified ethnic educational modes, and to promote children’s education in diversified forms.
