Analysis The Social Function Of Pingyao Dialect In Shanxi From The Perspective Of Social Linguistics

Standard relations with regional dialect has been one of important hot topic in the field of social linguistics, the domestic and foreign scholars in the field of exploration have also made many achievements. Mr Qing-xia Dai has said, is the relationship between mandarin and dialect study language relationship, one of the three major parts of our country. Although this kind of research, much attention has been paid to it since promoting mandarin has been a history, but in recent years triggered by mandarin and dialect of conflict and dispute once again let people to re-examine the relationship, people hope to find a harmonious point, let the Pu tonghua and dialects coexist in a certain region and use their advantages in the field of-a society or social groups, give full play to the role.As early as 2000 years ago, Yang passed xiaolian and who from all over the country, to collect and record the spoken words at that time, into a dialect vocabulary-"dialect". Since the birth of the book, for thousands of years, ancient and modern scholars are expected to dialects in China made a comprehensive exploration, but due to the vast area, population, and involves the dialect in China some controversial issues, such as the determination of species dialect category division, have been unable to achieve the vision. In recent years, the domestic academic circles to the usage of regional dialect dialect also did a lot of investigation and study, but using the function of involving shanxi pingyao dialect research is less. Is from the perspective of social linguistics, this paper focuses on investigation of shanxi pingyao region specific usage of mandarin and dialect, and then reveals the social function of pingyao words.This paper uses the quantitative analysis of social linguistics research methods, combining with the relevant theory, language attitudes, code-switching and supplemented by questionnaire survey and interview with random method, choice a middle school students and their parents, a travel guide who are from pingyao these three groups as investigation object, research their language usage and language attitude, and put them in the session involves the code-switching motivation as corpus according to the analysis. This study employs the survey data obtained, objective analysis and research the following questions:1. Pingyao dialect of living space is being squeezed from the mandarin? Why? 2. Is it possible that the pingyao replaced by mandarin in short time? Why? 3. The social function of pingyao dialect which mandarin has no? In the local,what unique social function which distinguish from other dialect dose pingyao dialect has ?This study found hat the present pingyao words although influenced by promoting mandarin, but still have higher frequency of use in pingyao, in a short period will not be replaced by mandarin. Because it is not only one kind of people in the region the use of language form, and it is most all residents in the region language environment of the main communication tool. At the same time, because pingyao dialect difference with other dialects on pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, it is the carrier of local culture, a symbol of identity, contact the local media. In addition, pingyao words to a certain extent promote the development of local tourism. Pingyao dialect is the local people’s emotion, is very important status in the eyes of the locals.
