Today, the rapidly widening income gap between different social groups,education fair problem is increasingly outstanding, low socioeconomic status is not only lack of education resources, but related studies have shown that stereotype threat caused by socioeconomic status gap can affect students’ academic performance.Requires researchers to explore the gap between rich and poor in China, can lead to what stereotypes about low-income groups,at the same time,Stereotype threat caused by socioeconomic status differences on what was the student’s academic performance,as well as the internal mechanism of impacts.The first part of the study investigated how Chinese youth to the poor have stereotypes and attribution about poverty.Results found that overall, the participants of the "rich" evaluation is higher than the "poor",but also show the characteristics of the complex, the participants can think "poor" ability is poor, such as lazy and ignorant, and think that the poor have good characters,such as friendly, responsible; Participants both think "rich" is very capable, such as intelligent, capable, and that the rich immoral like mean and unkind. On poor attribution, participants will be more poor to a "social factors", not "own factors".After the second part of the study found that the participants of household income will significantly affect college students English and math test scores, low-income students clearly under the influence of stereotype threat.However,high-income and middle-income students less affected by the stereotype threat; In test anxiety,low-income participants in exposure to stereotype threat situation of exam anxiety levels increased significantly, while the level of anxiety in the middle-income and high-income groups did not significantly increased,and in the high income group,experimental group edges of test anxiety anxiety level is lower than the control group significantly. The last part of the experimental results show that the difference in socioeconomic status of stereotype threat caused by circumstances, working memory capacity of the subjects are affected. So we should from the Angle of stereotype threat,to focus on education fairness, as well as how to reduce in the education evaluation the effects of stereotype threat. |
