Ci poetry is a literary form which is sung with the Yan music.It was regarded as melody in Tang dynasty and in Song dynasty people called it lyrics, musical movement, Yuefu and so on. It is a kind of musical literature, so we need to enjoy its unique artistic charm by singing. Singing Ci poetry was a very important and popular way to have fun from the top intellectuals to the folk artists in Song dynasty. In the middle of earlier Song dynasty with Sushi’s great reforms Ci poetry written by scholars began to independence from music, while singing Ci poetry was still so common that poet Zhangyan use musical standard to judge Ci poetry as before in the end of Song dynasty. However due to times change, the singing of Ci poetry during the Song dynasty did have many changes. This paper not only learn on a total of two hundred and seventy-six pieces about clear singing skill records in Song dynasty but also based on the predecessors’ research results attempts to show the phenomenon of singing Ci poetry, which focuses on geisha’s singing scholars’singing and the development and transformation of singing Ci poetry in detail during Song dynasty.This paper will show the differences between earlier Song dynasty and south Song dynasty at the same time pay attention to the relation behind the differences, thus to improve the whole process of Ci poetry from the rise and development to transformation was happened during Ci poetry sung and spread.Around singing skills recorded, this paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is about a preliminary study on development of the geisha community which is divided into three sections. Geisha was the main part of singing Ci poetry, and the geisha community development was actually the important indicator about prosperity and change of Ci poetry.The second chapter is about a simple and clear study on the singing of scholars. The singing skills of scholars were different from the geisha which was another new form of singing. There were also some famous male singers while their singing was far less than geisha’s influence. The phenomenon of scholars’singing composed writing and singing together and this way of singing showed the opposite of the geisha singing art charm. In these Songs lyrics, breaking the traditional composed grace, expressed the heroic spirit,and scholars in the social influence is far higher than that of geisha, so their singing was to a further spread and effect. The emergence of scholars’singing paved a new way for the development of diversification of Ci poetry’s style. In the third and fourth chapter, we show the whole process of singing Ci poetry from a longitudinal perspective, and then show the changes about style,content, singing form and musical accompaniment of Ci poetry in the process of singing to suggest that singing not only was not disappeared but also in a totally was new way of showing the charm of its own which conforms to the general law of literature development. Conclusion part summarizes the above, after three hundred years of history development, the singing of Ci poetry presented its respective features from earlier Song dynasty to south Song dynasty, and these features really matched the changes of the times, the literary form and the style.
