A Study About The Poetry Art Of Hou Fangyu

Hou Fangyu was one of the three representatives of the early Qing Dynasty, named one of the four famous persons with Chen Zhenhui, Fang Yizhi, Mao Pijiang in Ming Dynasty, was also the important member of Shangqiu Shipai, Fu She, Ji She, and Xue Yuanshe. Hou Fangyu’s poems express the state of unrest and the sigh of life’s aging, using long narrative poems to narrate things and short poems to chant. The Poetry is divided into three stages, the first stage poetry express passion and ambition, the second stage poetry express unrest, and the third stage poetry express sorrow.This paper reveals the style of Poetry, from the 3 aspects including linguistic features, the style and combination of poetic imagery, and the aesthetic connotation and the way of the poetic artistic conception.Chapter one discusses the language features of Hou Fangyu’s poetry. Hou Fangyu advocates Du Fu in making poems, the aesthetic form is vigorous and desolate, using cold colorful adjectives, sorrowful verbs, transient verbs. On the innovation of poetic language, prose syntax to prosody, each edge and discussions, the prose composition, syntactic distribution of poetry.Chapter two discuss the type of image and the combination mode of images, The image types include figurative images and symbolic images, with the use of allusion expressions. The combination types of the images are distinct structure and parallel structure.Chapter three discuss the aesthetic connotation and the way of the poetic artistic conception. The aesthetic connotation is vigorous and bleak.The conclusion reveal the style of the poetry, And pointed out that the artistic style of Hou Fangyu’s poetry as the common aesthetic fashion on the literati in early Qing dynasty.
