Jiang Guangci, the person who firstly lifted the banner of revolutionary literature and put it into practice actively,is quite a legendary and controversial writer. He was one of the earliest intellectuals who studied aboard in the Soviet Union, and brought back the first-hand information about proletarian literature to promote the early development of Chinese proletarian literature. However he was put on the“petty bourgeoisie”, “counter-revolutionary”hat.His works was so popular among his readers during his lifetime, but in the circle of literature and art,the comments and researches for his works are mainly negative. This is a very literary phenomenon worth exploring. This article intends to research Jiang Guangci from the perspective of comparative literature. At first, researching the ideological source of Jiang Guangci, analyzing the interwoven influence of Russian Literary Theory and National Traditional Chinese thought. From Jiang Guangci’s theoretical source,we can see that Jiang Guangci is trapped in double pursuit of “personality” and“organization”,“Literature” and “revolutionary”. Secondly, through reading and combing Jiang Guangci’s theoretical articles and literary works, we can found that Jiang Guangci’s creation sometimes highly complied with the revolutionary theory he advocated, but sometimes unconsciously represented a dramatic departure from the revolutionary theory he advocated.Through the analysis, this paper argues that Jiang Guangci has accepted the Soviet proletariat collectivism revolutionary ideas, but the inherent intellectual personality also plays a important role in his mind. Jiang Guangci not only wants to participate in practical revolutionary work, but also want to guard the freedom of literary creation. He attempted to retain the freedom as a revolutionary literature writer. However, there is a proverb that says you can’t have your cake and eat it too, and Jiang Guangci paid a heavy price.
