As a historical and cultural city of Suzhou, rich cultural heritage, its rich and varied folk culture.Suzhou folk culture can be largely divided into the following categories: the productive labor folklore based on the production-labor economy; the consumption custom about residents’ basic necessities; the rich and colorful life rituals; the seasonal folklore with varieties and diversities; and the prevailing religion and belief. Suzhou folklore wins a significant status in Chinese folk culture, with characteristics exhibited in its agriculture, water-town tradition, powerful cohesion, rapid development keeping pace with times, and an ecological folklore chain. The new type of urbanization has great impact on Suzhou folk culture, resulting in changes so that we need to protect it and inherit its folklore.
