With the economic globalization acquiring such a depth today, all countries have deepened their foreign exchanges. In a bid to better know the world economic trends, Chinese readers have paid more attention to financial news in English. The quality of financial news translation in Chinese would influence their comprehension toward relevant coverage as most people in China cannot read financial news in English directly and they have to acquire information by reading its Chinese version. In order to improve the translation of this kind, it is necessary to make an analysis of the linguistic features and translation strategies of financial coverage in English. The 9 source texts analyzed and translated in the translation report are financial news selected from The Economist. Under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory, the case is converted into Chinese by employing relevant translation strategies. The translation report is composed of three parts:the introduction, the body and the conclusion. The first part presents a brief introduction including research background and an overview of original texts. The body part consists of three chapters. Chapter One is linguistic features focusing on lexical and grammatical features of source texts, a necessary prerequisite for the translator to explore translation strategies. Chapter Two briefs the process description including an introduction of theoretical basis:Functional Equivalence Theory, preparation before translation, preliminary translation and proofreading. Chapter Three mainly discusses translation strategies of the original texts in terms of titles, words as well as long sentences. The translation report ends with conclusion, which has proven that it is practical to adopt relevant translation strategies under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory. The translation of business coverage in English must be in conformity of Chinese linguistic habits and enable Chinese readers to have the same or similar reaction with source readers.
