Dream and literature inextricably linked since ancient times and is one of the eternal themes of literary works. As a category of literature, the relationship between Fairy tales and dream is particularly special. The description about dream often appears in Fairy tales. As a narrative element, dream is widely found in Fairy tales. With the starting point of dream, discussing the relationship between dream and Fairy tales, dream and Fairy tales writer, dream and Fairy tales reader. By sorting out dream in Fairy tales of the nineteenth century, analyzing its presentation of specific text narrative pattern in different texts, and then exploring the unique artistic expression of dream in Fairy tales.This paper is divided into four parts. The first chapter, "Dream and Fairy Tales", focuses on why Fairy tales like to describe different dream; The second chapter, "Dream in Fairy tales of Western in the nineteenth century", try to sort out different dream in different texts; The third chapter, "The narrative mode of dream in Fairy tales of Western in the nineteenth century", from the three aspects of the narrative structure, narrative time and space, and narrative perspective, discussing the rules and characteristics about dream in the narrative mode; The forth chapter, "the artistic function of dream in Fairy tales of Western in the nineteenth century", as a narrative form, dream has its special artistic capabilities.
