| This thesis aims to study Lian yiqing’s pastel art career through pastel materials research and the development of Shanghai pastel academy, tries to analyze Lian Yiqing’s life time and his artistic features as well. Based on recall interviews, literature review, data collection, the paper elaborates the way that Lian Yiqing learning and the contributions he made to Chinese pastel, at the same time, combs the master-apprentice relations, enhances our historical features of pastel in nearly 100 years. Ultimately, the paper explores the effect brought by the production of domestic pastel and the development of Shanghai pastel academy.The thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter one describes the development of pastel in China and Li Chaoshi who puts this into China. The second chapter is divided into three sections. Section one is about all Lian Yiqing’s life. Section two illustrates how Lian Yiqing Guiding Marley’s paint factory, paper factory in Wenzhou, Shanghai and Hengyang paper factory produced domestically produced pastel painting materials in the situation that pastel almost dies. Section three explains Lian Yiqing, Liang Wendong and Li Yongsen building Shanghai pastel academy and its spreading makes an extraordinary contribution to Chinese pastel art, also it can make a demonstration for timing of Chinese pastel art recovery and shanghai pastel art recovery. In my opinion, there are close contacts between Chinese pastel art recovery and shanghai pastel art recovery. Lian Yiqing made great contribution to pastel materials research and development. This contribution is an important material foundation for Chinese pastel art recovery. We cannot imagine what will happen without his efforts. The last chapter is divided into two sections. Section one is about Lian Yiqing’s pastel art and the development of his artistic style. Section two discusses Lian Yiqing’s artistic characeristics. |
