A Practice Report On Interpreting Of Product Promotion Conference At Shanghai CBE

In the international communication and exchanges, the interpreters are indispensable to bridge the language gaps between the different countries. With the acceleration of global economy and increasing contacts and cooperation in business field, the demands for qualified interpreters have reached to an unprecedented level.International Exhibitions are major opportunities to test and open up domestic and foreign markets, as well as introduce products to customers. China Beauty Expo(Shanghai CBE), is one of China’s most influential trade platform for international cosmetic companies to enter into China’s market and is the key beauty cosmetic exhibition supported by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.This thesis is a practice report based on the experience in the 19 th CBE that the author have the honor to join, during the internship of Qiao Yi Cosmetic Packing Company, as the interpreter of the company’s product conference. It first studies the features of business interpretation, from the aspects of vocabulary interpretation and sentence interpretation, and is followed by the discussion of the required qualities of an interpreter. The report includes the preparation of the task, the process of the task. During the practice, the author met some difficulties on the spot, for example, the interpreting of specific technical terms and the business negotiation. At the end of report, reflections on the problems met and corresponding responses, such as dealing with the accidental situations, finding solutions for interpreting the fuzzy words and vague messages. Furthermore, the thesis discussed the features of interpretation during the business activities, and the influential factors of the site interpretation.This thesis tries to lay the foundation for the follow-up discussion of business interpreting,hoping to provide some guidance for the upcoming business interpreting practices.
