On The Film And TV Drama Adaptation Of The Chinese Network Novels

The twenty-first Century is the era of Internet. Internet comprehensive popularization, the explosion of information makes the network part of our lives, affecting our daily life and work. Network novels have grown up vigorously and cooperated with films and TV dramas. Network novels have been adapted for films or TV dramas because of their entertaining novelty, rich themes and closeness to life. Breathing new life into the development of films and TV dramas, network novels solve the problem of the film and TV drama "script shortage" to a certain extent. This thesis will focus on the topic of the film and TV drama adaptation of the Chinese network novels in four parts. First of all, the growth of network novels brings along the film and TV drama adaptation at the same time. The development of the film and TV drama adaptation include initial stage, developing stage and booming stage. Secondly, the thesis analyzes the reasons of the booming of the film and TV drama adaptation of the network novels. Because of the network novels ’ popular style, which close to daily life, it has a kind of strong bring-in-sense of motion experiences. Further more, the contents and the audiences of the network novels meet the requirement of the film and TV communication. The adaptation is provided with huge benefit in business. Thirdly, the thesis analyzes the films and TV dramas of network novels in its artistic aspect, which contains the audio-visual language of the films and TV dramas. Taking the film "Youth once more" as a typical case, the thesis analyzes some differences of aesthetic standards between the film adaptation and the TV adaptation. It has also taken into the consideration that the adaptation of film and TV should take the balance between business and art seriously. Finally, there is some shortcomings and weaknesses about the film and TV drama adaptation of the network novels. The quality of scripts should be improved and the themes and production is circumscribed as well. It is reasonable to be Optimistic about the future of the film and TV drama adaptation.The content-analysis and case-analysis are used respectively in this thesis. The content-analysis is mainly used in explaining the reasons of the popularity of the network-novels’ films and TV dramas, via analyzing the wide-spreading network novels and their film and TV drama adaptations in recent years in China. The case-analysis is mainly about those films and TV dramas which has achieved high-public-praise-words, high-audience-rating, and high-box-office. This thesis is aimed at offering some inspiration and guidance to film and TV drama adaptation of Chinese network novels.
