For over 300 years, the songs ascribed to The Sixth Dalai Lama Shangs dbyangs rgya mtsho are now considered as the representative of the lyrics of Tibetan. Being a paramount and a great famous "love songs" writer, he lived an extraordinary life, which made himself and his works full of legendaries and romance after generation by generation.Actually, as a famous opus of Tibetan poets work, Shangs dbyangs rgya mtsho’s poems are a development of both the tradition of Tibetan poetry and the close communication with Indian religion and culture. The poem partly absorbed the characteristic of Mi la ras pa mgur, which devoted to personal experience; partly dispelled the tradition of mgur that emphasizes on religious purity and authority. When snyan ngag, which generated by a highly rule-governed type of Indian poetry, which gets more and more learned and pedantic, the songs of Shangs dbyangs rgya mtsho refreshed the Tibetan. Due to its succinct style,they are easy to chant and spread and so does the misreading.From linguistic perspective, there are still some careless omissions among the past researches on the statistical analysis of the words of these poems. For instance, most researchers analyze the notional words only, which made the conclusion that "I miss the lover" invalid and misleading. In fact, the function words are widely used in his poems, such as possessive and causality, which need more investigation.According to the propagation and acceptance of its title, the word of "mgur" shows how Tibetans understand those poems. "Love songs" is a kind of imagination and reconstruction of Chinese translators. The different kinds of translations not only reflect their understanding of the poems, but also show the diversity of inner Chinese language. No matter what name we named those poems, the key to reading them is depending on how we understand the words and sentences. Beyond the block of "untranslatable", the proper way is "Yi yi ni zhi". Furthermore, the misreading of those translations can mainly be divided into the following three parts:the meaning of the words, the syntax and the contexts. There are so many reasons causing the misreading. However, the most significant one is the ambiguous of the poems themselves.Above all, the searching of the misreading and ambiguity of Shangs dbyangs rgya mtsho’s poems is not only dedicating to analyze the difference between cross-language expressions of the poems, but also hopes to give a reference with multiple perspectives of the possibilities of poetry study.
