A Study On Yang Yingchuan’s Novels

As a "post-70s" female writer in Guangxi, the creation of Yang Yingchuan is becoming rich and has a unique research value. Realism technique occupies the dominant position in her novels, while the modernistic elements play a secondary role. Selecting Yang Yingchuan’s novels published from 2000 to 2014 as research texts and using the fusion of realism and modernism as a point of entry, this article will do an overall study on her novels.In the respect of the depiction of realism, Yang Yingchuan’s novels, through shaping series of characters, create a series of images of women in the city love under the background of Chinese modern city in the 21st century, including the "pure" women image who pursue pure love made up of the persistent people, the brave and the tolerant and some women lost in love. The real detail in her novel s creates a lifelike living environment and, through the careful description of life details, Yang Yingchuan builds a realistic scene of life for the heroes. Readers c an find the shadow of Nanning’s life from those details. The real details are acco mpanied by the characters’inner subjectivity and also often associated with char acters’psychological activity under particular surroundings. Yang Yingchuan’s novels have shown redeemable consciousness under the spiritual light of moder nism which includes four aspects:forgiveness, the salvation and perseverance p rovided by women for man——persistence and pursuit of the ideal love,confir mation and regression of self existence and the rescue of the morbid relationsh ip. In terms of the infusion of modernistic elements, there are two texts under the perspective of modernism in Yang Yingchuan’s novels —a broken emotional w orld in the city and the mental illnesses of modern life. Yang Yingchuan’s novel s focus on describing the status of the younger generation who pursued the ideal love but failed and the unfulfilled marriage of the older generation, which act in coordination with each other and present the broken emotional state of the mode rn people together. Under the direction of modernism, Yang Yingchuan’s novel s reveal the status of the alienation of modern people from three aspects, includi ng the alienation between man to man, the loss of their self-value and corrosion of fame and fortune.Besides, there are three features in Yang Yingchuan’s novels under the fusi on of realism and modernism, which refer to the mutualism of blankness and full ness in the expression, attaching equal importance to the depiction of images wh o have a distinct personality and the presentation of human alienation in the char acterization and the coexistence of the idea world and the metaphor world in con tent. Moreover, the influence of the contemporary circumstance, the edification of theories of literature and art in school, and the choice made by herself jointly present a characteristics of the fusion of realism and modernism in Yang Yingc huan’ novels.
