Sun Fangyou and Mobai are twin stars from the same family in literary arena of contemporary Henan. Brother Sun Fangyou is a famous new literary sketchers with his writings deeply rooted in traditional culture. But his writings are not be fettered by the tradition culture, which emulate ancient elegant language mixing with vernacular language on the basis of carrying forward conciseness,quaintness and exquisite of ancient literary sketches and finally form unique writing characteristics of “Three Specifics and One Profoundness”: peculiar events, strange characters, fancy ideas with profound implications. Mobai attempts to connect realistic creative writing style with modernistic techniques with the aim of exploring human suffering of existence, death and the mysterious unknown life. He utilizes mazy narrative structure and mixes poetic language and colloquial speech in order to form his own distinct writing style. The brothers have great differences in the style of their works when confronting the same living environment, possessing the same literature features and depicting their common hometown Yinghe Town. One of them composes his writing based on realistic narratology of native novels. While the other belongs to modernist school focusing on narratology of western novels. It is rarely known in the history of Chinese literature that two brother writers have different writing styles. This thesis attempts to explore the problems of their differences through analysis of their works and related factors in reality under the theoretical framework of comparative literature and romantic literary criticism.The Introduction part is in Chapter one, which makes a brief summary of the brothers surnamed Sun, introduces the research status and illustrates research contents and significance after explaining the research procedures and methods of this thesis. In Chapter two, the thesis explores the brothers’ spiritual growth and common characteristics through analysis on their hometown cultural traits, their common family environment and historical background as well as their emotions to Yinghe Town. Chapter three makes a comprehensive comparative analysis of the brothers’ literature works from art styles, narrative techniques and linguistic features and tends to find the similarities and differences of the Yinghe Town the brothers build in their works. In Chapter four, the thesis attempts to utilize romantic literary criticism to analyze factors causing their different writing styles from three aspects: individual mind, life history and artistic influence. Finally, it makes further interpretation about spiritual and realistic significance of the brothers’ writings.
