As musical performers, we need to model roles through music, and a part of the modeling of the role’s voice must be reflected through music. This work consists of three chapters and uses the author’s experience as a performer in the Chinese version of the musical ’I LOVE YOU’ as an example. The first chapter contains a description of this musical’s background and story. The second chapter contains role analyses of three parts of the musical, and, in a further step, discusses the performers’ voice modeling. Based on the author’s own rehearsal experience, the third chapter expounds the mix of the role’s spoken and sung parts and the dramatic significance of the sung parts. |
