’Imagine’ is essentially the visual projection in the brain, while music is a kind of listening experience, which are originally independent without direct relationship. However, forming a mental image in brain based on the information received through hearing is a special phenomenon in the human senses, that is, synaesthesia. This paper, from the aspect of synaesthesia, taking Benjamin Britten’s Four Sea Interludes and Debussy’s La Mer as examples, discusses the picture presentation in program music. Then after researching the composer, John Corigliano’s compositional style and characteristics, the paper summarizes the application of Genesis in works from different fields. In chapter two, based on the above information, this essay researches John Corigliano’s work, Creations, and thoroughly analyzes the relationship between spoken-word and the band, creation technique, text handling, pitch, orchestrate, and organization of textures. In this work, Corigliano employed several ways such as motivation leading, content interpretation, semantic presentation, image depicting, and tone emphasizing, combined creation techniques such as atonal music, sound melodies, twelve-tone technique and microtone, and utilized the principle of synaesthesia to highly finely present the content of the first three chapters in Genesis with a strong sense of pictures.
