Study On Artistic Authenticity Of Landscape Oil Paintings

Arguments on artistic authenticity have never been stopped in the development of art no matter in terms of literature theory or in the theory for oil painting art. However, there are far more treatises of artistic authenticity research on portrait oil painting and historical painting than on landscape oil painting. Researches on landscape oil painting mostly always focus on the inspiration of artists during the creation process. After pondered over, we found that artists integrate artistic authenticity with their paintings naturally during the producing process. Artistic authenticity is the pursuit of artistic essence when taking authenticity as the standard of artistic aesthetic judgment especially on the aesthetic judgment of landscape oil paintings. Artistic essence usually shows itself by the form of beauty, which includes appreciating beauty and ugliness. In the process of appreciating beauty, the exploration of the artistic beauty mostly based on the yarning for natural beauty, when the experience of artistic authenticity in the painting .process is being discussed, the artistic authenticity with the painter’s subjective mind has to be further explored.With the entry point of Gauguin’s paintings, having such features as primitive, symbolic, mysterious, decorative and graphic, etc., the research state of development presented by authenticity, the presentation of artistic authenticity during the creation process of landscape oil paintings, based on which this paper attempts to explore the artistic authenticity with subjective mind embodied in his landscape oil paintings. On the analysis of the evolution of the artistic authenticity in literature and art theory, the significance of the artistic authenticity in the creation of landscape oil paintings has been excavated, which will guide the creation of landscape oil paintings. In the pursuit of artistic essence, artistic authenticity has been explored among the relationship of art, emotion and spirit. Performances of authenticity in the creation process has been elucidated in five aspects, life authenticity and artistic authenticity, sensible authenticity in artistic creation, sincere expression of creation volition, authenticity in artistic creation and authenticity of artistic works, meanwhile authenticity of subjective mind has been discussed with them.The heritage and development of art requires the artists’sincerity of artistic attitude, the real unification of reappeared reality and the authenticity of subjective mood, which has profound significance on the development of contemporary art. Nevertheless, contemporary artists with their penetrating visual perception portray the epochal spirit as unique scenery. Studies on artistic authenticity are still fuzzy conceptual discussion, but theoretical researches are finding their way out in the misty fog. With constant excavation and discussion, theories will be more and more distinct.
