| Various kinds of international organizations are emerging in the world today, thus pushing forward the establishment of numerous international standards. The translation of those international standards into Chinese becomes important and requisite. This thesis is based on the translation practice of the 21st edition of Terrestrial Animal Health Code issued by World Organization of Animal Health. The author translates from Chapter 4.13 to Chapter 5.6, covering over 12 thousand words in all.Terrestrial Code specifies the health standards and safety measures of mammals, birds and bees, which greatly improves the standardization and internationalization of animal breeding, epidemic prevention, slaughter and cross-country trade of animals. It is a model for the legislation of Chinese animal husbandry. This thesis is composed of two major parts, the translation practice and the report on the practice. There are five chapters in the translation report, respectively background information of this project, pre-translation preparations, the during-translation cases, after-translation matters and the conclusion. The translation origin and its Chinese version will be listed in Appendix â… and Appendix â…¡.This translation practice makes me deeply realize that a qualified translator needs comprehensive and interdisciplinary knowledge reserves. While translating, translators ought to make a good preparation of the relevant information before translation and search a lot, which will help them translate texts more successfully. Besides, it is very imperative for translators to check the translation versions carefully and polish words before the delivery of our translation. Only when translators put emphasis on every single step of the translation practice, could they ensure the quality of the translation practice. |
