China has been traveling on the Information Superhighway since the 21 st century.Net Buzzword, the communication intermediary on the Internet, sprouts up everywhere in recent years. However, the communication on the Internet is international, and inaccurate translation of the Net Buzzword results in the misunderstanding and embarrassment between the netizens at home and abroad.Under such circumstances, targeting at the popular net buzzword, this thesis focuses on the solution of the problem. In order to make a more targeted research, this thesis mainly focuses on the analysis and discussion of the top ten popular buzzwords in2013 released by YAOWEN-JIAOZI, which is an authoritative language and text magazine in China. Source, influence, and suitable translation methods are discussed in this thesis. And based on the same theory, similar translation methods on other popular net buzzwords are also briefly analyzed.The theory base of this thesis is Eugene A.Nida’s Functional Equivalence, which is widely applied to all kinds of text translation. This thesis is going to discuss the feasibility of Functional Equivalence when dealing with the translation issues of popular net buzzwords.The thesis mainly focuses on the translation methods on the top ten popular net buzzwords in 2013. In addition, several general translation methods on popular net buzzword are going to be suggested as well. The goal of the thesis is to enhance the translation of popular net buzzword in a more efficient way and to promote the communication between China and foreign countries.
