Television teaching is essential in distance education, which demonstrates the teaching contents, carrying the teaching information through television. Television teaching interprets the abstract knowledge of the books with the audio visional images on the screen, while stimulates and enhance the students’ interest in learning. At present, the researches of this field focus on the development of the international television teaching, the media of teaching Chinese on television, comparison among international and domestic teaching programs and teaching textbooks. However, there is few researches start from questionnaires. This paper is trying to study the television Chinese teaching with questionnaires.There are a growing number of people want to know more about Chinese culture and Chinese language for various reasons recently. Classroom instruction is still the mainstream teaching approach, but the traditional "Triple mode" is boring to students sometimes, which consists of a book, a teacher and a blackboard. And television can provide an intuitive feel, conversion from the abstract content text to representational images. The television teaching will be the supplementary methods to the traditional classroom teaching and improve the effectiveness of teaching. However the speed of teachers training doesn’t match the explosive increase of the number of Chinese learners all over the world. The distance education is an effective method to ease the thirsty of Chinese teaching resources. The television teaching is one of the distance education approaches, which is economical, flexible, compatible and resourceful. The efficiency of the television teaching is measured by the questionnaires on the learners and the interaction is tested through the interviews as well.This paper analyzes the television teaching elements in the class of teaching Chinese as foreign language and proposes useful suggestions, after which the questionnaires and interviews on the foreign student and Chinese teacher of Institute for International Students Nanjing University have been studied, based on the demonstration methods, immediacy method, communicative approach and input hypothesis.Firstly, the introduction identifies the aim of the research and the researches at present in this field, the routes and methods of this paper is pointed out. Then the theoretical base of television teaching is discussed and the setting up and testing of the questionnaires and interviews are introduced afterwards. Subsequently, the analysis on the questionnaires and interviews are presented, which concerned the foreign students and Chinese language teachers respectively. Meanwhile, the internet programs influences the television teaching obviously, the suggestions of application of television teaching is discussed in the final phase in this new era, the advantages and disadvantages are mentioned as well.The analysis shows that television teaching program could be utilized universally with the advantages of being flexible, compatible and resourceful. The deficiency in interaction is resolved gradually with efficient application. Consequently, television teaching method will be the effective assistant to the traditional teaching and popular among the Chinese learners globally.
