Brandom’s Philosophy Of Language Pragmatism Tendency

Brandom’s philosophy of language showed a rationalistic pragmatism view. In his voluminous writings Making It Explicit, Brandom made language as a medium to explore philosophical questions. Based on the relationship between the ideas、the world and language from, his vision of a new philosophy of language was showed to us in a new perspective. Firstly, Brandom consider the main language practice to communicate through speech acts as a kind of practical activities based on rational construction, he investigated the language subjects’ "sapience", and revealed clearly the connotation and characteristics of "sapience". He pointed out the language subjects have "sapience", rather than the sensibility defined by traditional language philosophers. It means that the language subjects use unique "sapience" to express and inference in practical activities, so that the communication can be completed. Upon this particular cognitive ability, language subject have already covered normative understanding in the course of using the language. The use of language is to comply with the specification.Actually it is putting the actual meaning of the language into the use of them. And then, proceeding from the presentationism and derivatism Sprachansicht, Brandom analyzed the complex relationship between semantics and pragmatics, trying to show the appearance of language obey the following facts:language is clearly spoken in a way of reasoning.
