This article has chosen Taijinar Banner of Germu City, Qinghai Province as the field site, and analyzed the historical memory of Taijinar from the perspective of Cultural Anthropology on the base of oral history of local people. In the 17th century, under the authority of Guushi Hamble Tushiyetu and his successors, Taijinar moved from Hulunboir to XinJiang, and then to Qaidam Baisin again, where they have lived till now for over 370 years. In this progress they encountered with various difficulties and dealt with them and then created their special features of politics, economy and culture. After the anti-Qing movement lead by Lobsandanjin, Qing Dynasty divided the Mongolians in QingHai into 29 Banners. Within them, the Central Banner of Right Hand of West was named as Taijinariin Banner lately. From 1940s, Taijinar suffered a lot because of the Kazak rebel. In this thesis, the author analyzed the historical memories of TaiJinar Mongolians concerning their origin, historical events they experienced and the traditional habit, etiquette, religion and Oboo Festival, based on the field work materials, related documents. And in the conclusion, the author attempts to conclude the reasons of those historical memories, the way TaiJinar remember their history, the purpose and influence of the memories in the Socio-cultural context of Qinghai. This paper consists of 5 parts:introduction, the main body (3 chapters), conclusion, references and appendix. The introduction part mainly deals with literature review, purpose and meaning of the study, methodology and the material source. The first part is primarily about historical memories of Taijinar Banner, that is to say, the historical origin of Taijinar Banner, the control from Qing dynasty and rebellion of Kazaks. The second part is about the memories of historical figures in Taijinar Banner, that is the memories of Guushi Khan, Lvbsangdenjin, and Dugurzaisang. The third part is on the Taijinar’s memories about their traditional customs, and the historical memories hidden in ritual culture. The conclusion part is the theoretical summary of the whole thesis. The author argues that Taijinar Mongols remember the Guushi Khan and Lubsandanjin as their Proud, and Kazak rebel as their collective pity, and the historical memory was included in oral tradion, stories and folk songs, and constructed Taijinar’s regional identity. The bibliography and fieldwork materials are attached at the end.
