Study On Cohen’s Defense And Modification To Marxism

After the drastic change of Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, the global capitalism isthriving, while socialism is facing unprecedented challenges. As one of the founder andmajor representative of Analytic Marxism, Cohen G.A devotes his whole life to defend thelegitimacy of socialism and make the sharpest criticism of Robert Nozick who is aright-wing libertarian. In the process of upholding Marxism social road, Cohen G.A hasquestioned and modified some theories of classic Marxism from a specific perspective ofnormative philosophy.Based on the book “self-ownership, freedom and equality” of Cohen and viewedfrom a dual vision of political and moral philosophy, this article tried to express clearly thelogic thinking of Cohen. It plans to defend socialism criticism ideology of Nozick, and tryto clear some thoughts of Nozick, which also questions and modifies some theories ofclassic Marxism. First, it illustrates Marxism complex of Cohen, which gives a historicaland thought background for the latter contents. Then, it mainly discusses the defense aboutMarxism of Cohen, and the defense is always aimed at the criticism of justice theory froma right-wing libertarian representative, Robert Nozick. Last, it researches the modificationof Marxism made by Cohen.
